Legacy Ag Credit, ACA is a full-service, locally owned cooperative lender specializing in financing rural land and agricultural operations in Northeast Texas. We are headquartered in Sulphur Springs and have five offices conveniently located across the northeastern region of Texas in Sulphur Springs, Canton, Gilmer, Kaufman and Longview. Part of the Farm Credit System, we provide financing for farms, timberland, recreational property, agribusinesses and rural homes.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education and/or experience equivalent to a BS degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field. Three (3) or more years’ direct experience in mortgage banking, preferably in the loan origination or processing of conventional mortgages. Must be registered with the Nationwide Licensing System and Registry consistent with the requirements of part 610 of the FCA’s Regulations and the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the SAFE Act).

Job Purpose and Scope

Markets and originates loans to be sold in a secondary mortgage market. Determines appropriate investor with which to place the mortgage based upon approved investors and available products.

Essential Functions

  • Follows marketing plan directives within budget for promotion of secondary market mortgages in assigned area in order to meet association mortgage income goals.
  • Coordinates the rural home loan origination of branch referred existing and potential customers.
  • Ensures a positive Farm Credit image by participating in association marketing activities and promotes association products and services.
  • Explains to prospects the differences in financing through the secondary market or the association portfolio. Works with program coordinator and appropriate portfolio loan officers in identifying and pursuing cross-selling opportunities. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Follows market trends and developments to increase association’s business in established and developing markets. Keeps informed of competition and their markets, primary products and services, major strengths and limitations, and their basic pricing arrangements.
  • Gathers all information necessary for documentation, analysis, disclosure and underwriting loan requests.
  • Analyzes complete credit and financial data on applicants to determine appropriate credit action to take under the loan program as established by investor and association guidelines.
  • Utilizes loan origination and desktop underwriting software in preparing the loan package for processing, underwriting, and closing, in accordance with Association policy and practices.
  • Prices and processes rate locks on loans according to association guidelines.

Skill Requirements

Strong organizational, interpersonal and sales skills. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Desktop Underwriter®, and loan origination software. Experience with Encompass loan origination software is a plus. Possesses a current awareness of the secondary market industry, as well as, economic and housing developments in the region that may impact the housing market.

Working Relationships

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers, such as branch manager/loan officers, mortgage specialists, finance department, information systems, and internal auditor, to facilitate effective and efficient coordination of service delivered to customers or prospective customers.

Policy and Compliance

Compliance with Farm Credit Bank of Texas and Association technology and security standards is required.
