AgTexas Farm Credit Services serves approximately 2,600 borrowers in a 43 county trade territory. The association has an average volume of approximately $1.9 billion. The loan portfolio consists of cotton, peanuts, livestock, dairy, feed grains, real estate and ag-related business loans. The association territory provides diversity in production and mortgage loans as well as commodities financed. The Seminole office has $46 million in direct loans to 110 members, consisting primarily of cotton, peanuts, sorghum and real estate.

Minimum Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

Coursework in finance, business, agricultural economics and/or accounting preferred. Position available for Junior or Senior under-graduate and graduate students. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Skill in oral and written communication.

Job Purpose and Scope

This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer Semesters of 2020. Internship term will be June 1st through July 24th, 2020. Students will travel throughout the AgTexas territory on a weekly basis. Students are expected to stay in each location Monday-Friday. Reliable transportation is required. Travel expenses will be covered by the Association. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.

Exposure will be provided to all functions within the organization, including:

Credit Analysis, Operations/Loan Servicing, Lending Services, Portfolio Management, Appraisal, Crop Insurance

In addition to the areas noted above, the students will be asked to engage in a project as defined by AgTexas that will be developed throughout the 8 week period with a final report and presentation to the Senior Management Team on the final day of the internship.

Working Relationships

Frequent interaction with branch managers, departmental staff and management. Occasional interaction with CEO.
